Following a bustling August and a record number of draws in July, Canada's Express Entry system has experienced shifts in both the makeup of the candidate pool and the profile of newcomers receiving invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence (PR).
To provide clarity for those in the Express Entry pool and others interested in Canadian immigration, we present a detailed overview of the current pool composition, along with a summary of cut-off scores from recent draws over the past month.
Current Status of the Express Entry Pool
Draws in August:
August featured five Express Entry draws, issuing over 10,000 ITAs as Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) resumed its biweekly draw pattern. The details of these draws are as follows:
Draw Number | Date | Round Type | ITAs Issued | CRS Cut-off Score |
312 | 27/08/24 | Canadian Experience Class (CEC) | 3,300 | 507 |
311 | 26/08/24 | Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) | 1,121 | 694 |
310 | 15/08/24 | Category-Based Selection (CBS): French Language | 2,000 | 394 |
309 | 14/08/24 | CEC | 3,200 | 509 |
308 | 13/08/24 | PNP | 763 | 690 |
These draws align with recent changes announced by Immigration Minister Marc Miller, who has emphasized increasing "domestic" draws to prioritize candidates already in Canada. This shift aims to alleviate pressures on housing and affordability by focusing on temporary residents eligible for PR rather than new immigrants. Additionally, the federal government is boosting Francophone immigration, with a planned increase in the percentage of French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec from 6% in 2024 to 8% by 2026. There have been seven French language proficiency draws this year, issuing over 19,000 ITAs.
