
New Invitations to Apply (ITA) have been issued for candidates in the NLPNP and the AIP sectors. These include the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program.
On September 26th, Newfoundland and Labrador Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reported new ITAs. 107 invitations came from the NLPNP and 110 from the AIP sector.
These invitations have been taking place since February, where the draws have been happening consistently. These program’s alternation to an Express of Interest system has consequently resulted in a total of 2,821 provincial immigration invitations – with 2,125 going to NLPNP candidates and 696 to AIP candidates.
How do the AIP and NLPNP Work?
AIP is specific to Canada’s Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. To be eligible, a candidate must receive a job offer from an employer in Atlantic Canada. They must also have the minimum work experience requirement completed, or be a recent graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada.
The NLPNP, on the other hand, nominates foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for permanent residence (PR).
This sector includes 5 categories:
- Skilled Worker
- Skilled Worker – Express Entry Skilled Worker
- International Entrepreneur
- International Graduate Entrepreneur
- International Graduate
To obtain PR through this PNP, initially, the foreign national have to acquire a provincial nomination. Subsequently, the successful provincial nominee can apply to the federal government for their permanent residency.
