Newfoundland and Labrador continues to expand its immigration efforts, issuing more invitations through its third round under the newly implemented Expression of Interest (EOI) system introduced in February 2025.
The latest draw, held on May 29, 2025, targeted candidates who had submitted EOIs for either the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) or the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). A total of 405 invitations were issued—351 through the NLPNP and 54 through the AIP—marking the province’s highest invitation count so far this year.
This latest round surpasses previous invitation rounds held on:
- May 8, 2025 – 328 invitations
- April 3, 2025 – 256 invitations
So far in 2025, the province has invited 838 candidates through the NLPNP and 151 through the AIP, for a total of 989 invitations across three rounds.
These efforts are part of Newfoundland and Labrador’s revised immigration strategy following a successful negotiation with the federal government to increase its economic immigration allocation to 2,525 slots, despite an initial reduction earlier this year.
How to Apply through Newfoundland and Labrador’s Immigration Pathways
To be considered for provincial immigration, foreign nationals must submit an Expression of Interest through the Immigration Accelerator portal. EOIs remain active in the system for 12 months unless selected earlier.
If selected, candidates will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the NLPNP and will then have 60 days to submit a complete application. For AIP applicants, the employer must submit the application on the candidate’s behalf.
Important note: Candidates outside of Canada must receive an “invite code” from their employer to apply. This requirement does not apply to those already residing in Canada.
Previously, applicants could apply directly to the province without the EOI step, but the new system aims to better manage the selection process and improve efficiency. Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) – Parisa Erfani
