Canada Holds First Healthcare Express Entry Draw Since July

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has extended Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw.

A total of 3,000 ITAs were issued in a healthcare-specific category-based selection.

To be eligible, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 463.

Today's draw marks the third of the week, following a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on November 19 and a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on November 18. This is also the second consecutive week with Express Entry draws.

The previous week saw a total of 1,933 ITAs issued to CEC candidates, PNP applicants, and those with French-language proficiency.

Under the latest Immigration Levels Plan from IRCC, federal immigration targets for Express Entry are set to increase next year, with a goal of welcoming 124,680 Express Entry candidates to Canada.

Of these, more than 82,000 admissions will be allocated to a new "In-Canada Focus" category, primarily targeting CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool, though it may also include applicants from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and PNP-aligned Express Entry streams.

Additionally, 41,700 permanent residence admissions will be reserved for the "Federal Economic Priorities" category, focusing on candidates with professional experience in high-demand occupations within the Canadian labor market.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an application management system for three major Canadian economic immigration programs: CEC, FSWP, and FSTP. Candidates in these programs are assessed through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which awards points based on factors like age, education, occupation, language skills, and work experience.

Extra points may be granted for having a sibling in Canada, applying with a spouse or partner, or combining Canadian and international work experience and education.

Candidates with provincial nominations through enhanced PNP streams can earn an additional 600 CRS points, dramatically improving their chances of receiving an ITA.

The highest CRS scorers are the most likely to be invited in future Express Entry draws, depending on the specific criteria of each draw.
