Yukon Nominee Program Begins Issuing 2025 Invitations Amid High Demand
The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) has begun sending out invitations to apply for territorial nomination following a highly competitive 2025 intake cycle. Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) – Parisa Erfani
According to a May 23 announcement, Yukon received 502 eligible submissions during its most recent intake period (March 31 – April 22), with 392 applications aligning with the territory’s 2025 priorities. However, due to a 50% reduction in its federal nomination allocation, Yukon is limited to just 215 nomination slots this year.
Priority Candidates for Nomination
The YNP is prioritizing applicants who previously received temporary letters of support—these were granted to foreign nationals working in Yukon with the intention of receiving a future nomination. Remaining spots will be filled through a random selection among other eligible candidates, including:
- Foreign nationals who have lived and worked in Yukon for at least one year;
- Yukon University graduates;
- Francophone and French-speaking applicants; and
- Candidates holding a letter of support.
Key Changes to the YNP in 2025
In response to overwhelming demand, Yukon implemented an Expression of Interest (EOI) system earlier this year. Employers must now submit EOIs on behalf of foreign workers, which are reviewed and ranked based on alignment with territorial priorities. This system replaces the former first-come, first-served model, allowing Yukon to better manage application volumes and target priority candidates.
As of May 23, selected employers are receiving formal invitations to apply. Those not selected will be notified if they are placed in the random selection pool or deemed ineligible.
These changes and reduced allocations are part of broader federal policy shifts under the 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, which has scaled back Provincial Nominee Program targets across Canada. Canada PNP Program – Parisa Erfani
